Why We Chose Full-Time RV Living (And Why We Love It!)

One of the most common questions we get is: Why on earth would you leave a perfectly good house to live in an RV full-time?
We get it. It sounds a little crazy, right? Why give up most of our stuff? Why move so far away from family and friends? Why trade in a “normal” life for life on the road?
For us, the answer was simple: We wanted experiences over things.
Life is short. We’ve all heard stories (or lived them ourselves) of working hard for decades, only to retire and realize we’re too tired, too busy, or just not up for doing the things we always dreamed about. We didn’t want that to be our story.

RV Life Was Not the Plan… At First
If you had told us years ago that we’d be living in an RV full-time, we probably would’ve laughed. We built our dream home in Maryland and thought we’d stay there forever. We made so many memories in that house—it was truly home. But then, things changed.
About five years before we made the leap, we were watching a show about people buying RVs and saw that some actually lived in them full-time. That was a whoa, people really do this? moment for us.
Curious, we started researching and found some incredible YouTube channels featuring people who had taken the plunge into full-time RV life. We were fascinated! After a few months of watching, Mike turned to me and said, “I think I could do this.” To his surprise, I immediately replied, “Me too!”
And just like that, the wheels (literally!) were in motion.
The 5-Year Plan
We didn’t just sell everything and hit the road overnight. We spent five years:
✅ Paying off debt
✅ Downsizing our house (more on that in another post!)
✅ Finding the perfect RV for our needs
✅ Planning how to make full-time RV life work for us
Then, in 2023—within two weeks of our goal date—we pulled out of our driveway for the last time. That was it! Our big adventure had officially begun.
So… Was It the Right Choice?
Absolutely! Has everyday been perfect? Nope. We’ve had our fair share of challenges (like tire blowouts, crazy weather, and the occasional RV mishap), but we wouldn’t trade this lifestyle for anything right now.

In the past year and a half, we’ve:
🌄 Seen breathtaking landscapes we once only dreamed of
🗺️ Checked off major bucket-list destinations
💕 Spent more quality time together than ever before
🎥 Captured incredible memories to share on our YouTube channel
Is Full-Time RV Life for Everyone?
Nope! And that’s okay. It’s definitely not a one-size-fits-all lifestyle. But for us? It was the best decision we’ve ever made. We’re so grateful we took the leap, and we can’t wait to see where the road takes us next!
